How long is the session?

Baby Spa

A baby spa lasts for approximately 1 hour. This will give enough time to welcome up to 2 participants, get adorable photos, a luxurious spa experience and then get dried and dressed, ready for a nap.

0-9 Months - up to 15 minutes in the tub, followed by a massage.
9 months - 3 years - 30 minutes in the tub with toys followed by a snack (these are provided but feel free to bring your own if they have a favourite!)

Mum and Baby Spa

Mum and Baby Spa is 2-2.5 hours. It is a one to one experience, once you arrive you and your baby are the only participants. The baby spa portion runs the same way as described above. Afterwards, time is set aside to feed and settle your baby. Once soundly asleep, it is mum's turn. Choose from a variety of treatments and relax. If your baby stirs, your therapist, Siobhan is on hand to pop a dummy back in or rock back to sleep. Your job is to relax and be pampered.

Where are you based?

We are conveniently located in the centre of the historic village of West Malling in Kent. We are in a quite spot behind the High Street, a few seconds walk from the main car park.

Is there parking?

The Tesco car park is a short walk. It is pay and display (Ringo) for up to 4 hours. There is also Street parking where available which is also a short walk to the spa. On the street you have one hour free parking with a ticket from the machine, after that you can pay and display a ticket or Ringo from the app for up to a further 4 hours.

Traffic wardens patrol the area so please remember to pay/update your parking fee.

What is the age limit?

Once your baby has had their 6 week check up to 3 years of age

Mum and Baby Spa participants should ideally be under 9 months old. This age limit can be waived but be advised older babies tend to struggle to nap. You should bring a partner or friend/relative who can stay with a wakeful baby.

I had a C-Section, when can I have a massage?

A minimum time of 6 weeks recovery is required. Ensure your scar has fully healed. Speak to your healthcare provider if you have any concerns. A C-Section is a major surgery and your body needs time to heal. Depending on your treatment choice, you will be lying down, both face down and face up. There will be plenty of bolster available to ensure your comfort throughout.

None of the treatments involve abdominal massage.

I am still breast feeding, is that ok?

Absolutely! There will be plenty of time and privacy for you to feed your baby. Both of your comfort is the priority!

If you are worried about leaks, please don’t! The massage table has a waterproof covering and is layered up with soft, comfortable towels that are all laundered after each use. Leaks are expected, please don’t feel embarrassed. There are plenty of bolsters and towels to ensure your comfort throughout and privacy while you change.

Likewise with post pregnancy bleeding. As long as you are not bleeding heavily and feel well enough in yourself for a massage, don’t worry. Little Ducklings Mum and Baby Spa is designed for you and your postpartum stage.

Are there toilet facilities?

Yes. Toilet facilities are available inside the spa. No need to leave your baby to dash off to pay a call.

How many people can I bring?

At Little Ducklings, your nearest and dearest are welcome to join you and your baby for a spa. While there is no limit on the number of guests you bring, please bare in mind that we are an intimate setting and you may not be the only family, spa sessions can have up to 2 participants.

Siblings are welcome - if they are under 10 years old they must be accompanied by another adult. Please be mindful that we are trying to promote a relaxing atmosphere at the baby spa.

During mum’s treatment, if mum is comfortable, partners can stay. Sometimes it’s easier to relax if you know your partner is on hand.

Do I need to bring anything?

We will provide everything you need - just bring yourself and your baby!

Do babies need to wear swim nappies?

Yes. Washable swim nappies are provided. Disposable swim nappies are not used in the tubs.

What massage oil do you use?

For the baby massage, we use coconut oil. It is food grade and hypoallergenic.

For mum’s massage, it depends on the treatment. All products are gentle, hypoallergenic and cruelty free. If you have any further questions, please get in touch, all skin types and preferences can be accommodated.

Can I use my own products?

We provide everything you’ll need but are happy for you to bring your own towels if you prefer. Products are not used in the whirlpool baths but you can bring your own massage oil.

Can I bring twins?

Yes. However, we need to maintain the ratio of one adult to each baby. A twin discount is available, get in touch for more details.

What if my baby won’t sleep?

The Baby Spa is a very sensory experience. The lights, the bubbling water, the massage... Your baby will be exhausted and hungry afterwards, ready for a feed and a long snooze!

I have a lot of experience getting babies to sleep, I will be on hand to help (and I love a challenge, I am rarely defeated!) However, if your little one is particularly resistant, we have many tools of distraction at our disposal.

If you are still concerned, you are welcome to bring another adult with you (partner, grandparent, friend) and they can take over baby duties either with us or out and about. Wateringbury has some lovely walks and there are several eateries in the vicinity.

Is it only for Mums?

The spa is designed for Mum and Baby, although I have had Grandma and Baby, Aunty and Baby and even Godmother and Baby. If there’s a special woman in your life who you would like to treat and who would enjoy a beautiful bonding session with your baby, they are very welcome!

Sorry Dads, this one is only for the ladies!
