Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have a question that we haven't answered below? If so, please use our Contact Us page to send a message or email info@littleducklingsbabyspa.com
How long is the session?
Each session is 2 to 2.5 hours, ensuring there is plenty of time for your baby to have a feed and settle down for a nap before we begin your treatment.
Where are you based?
The spa is run from my home in Wateringbury, Kent. Full address and details upon booking.
Is there parking?
Yes. Off street parking is available.
What is the age limit?
We accept babies from their 6 week check up to 12 months old. Before 6 weeks the whirlpool bath and massage can be a little over-stimulating for your baby. And you yourself will need time to recover from the birth as well.
I had a C-Section, when can I have a massage?
A minimum time of 6 weeks recovery is required. Ensure your scar has fully healed. Speak to your healthcare provider if you have any concerns. A C-Section is a major surgery and your body needs time to heal. Depending on your treatment choice, you will be lying down, both face down and face up. There will be plenty of bolster available to ensure your comfort throughout.
None of the treatments involve abdominal massage.
I am still breast feeding, is that ok?
Absolutely! There will be plenty of time and privacy for you to feed your baby. Both of your comfort is the priority!
If you are worried about leaks, please don’t! The massage table has a waterproof covering and is layered up with soft, comfortable towels that are all laundered after each use. Leaks are expected, please don’t feel embarrassed. There are plenty of bolsters and towels to ensure your comfort throughout and privacy while you change.
Likewise with post pregnancy bleeding. As long as you are not bleeding heavily and feel well enough in yourself for a massage, don’t worry. Little Ducklings Mum and Baby Spa is designed for you and your postpartum stage.
Are there toilet facilities?
Yes. Little Ducklings is run from my home in Wateringbury. You are welcome to use the bathroom facilities upstairs whenever you need. I am fully DBS checked and am more than happy to enjoy some baby cuddles while you pay a call. In fact, I encourage an empty bladder before we start your massage so you feel comfortable throughout.
How many people can I bring?
Little Ducklings is run from my home in Wateringbury, so we can be flexible with who comes. Siblings are welcome - as long as they are accompanied by another adult - during the baby spa section. But be mindful that we are trying to promote a relaxing atmosphere for you and your baby.
When it is time for mum’s treatment, ideally it will be just the 3 of us. However, if mum is comfortable, partners can stay. Sometimes it’s easier to relax if you know your partner is on hand.
Do I need to bring anything?
We will provide everything you need - just bring yourself and your baby!
Do babies need to wear swim nappies?
No. However, if you or your baby would be more comfortable they can wear one.
What massage oil do you use?
For the baby massage, we use coconut oil. It is food grade and hypoallergenic.
For mum’s massage, it depends on the treatment. All products are gentle, hypoallergenic and cruelty free. If you have any further questions, please get in touch, all skin types and preferences can be accommodated.
Can I use my own products?
We provide everything you’ll need but are happy for you to bring your own towels if you prefer. Products are not used in the whirlpool baths but you can bring your own massage oil.
Can I bring twins?
Yes. However, we need to maintain the ratio of one adult to each baby. A twin discount is available, get in touch for more details.
What if my baby won’t sleep?
The Baby Spa is a very sensory experience. The lights, the bubbling water, the massage... Your baby will be exhausted and hungry afterwards, ready for a feed and a long snooze!
I have a lot of experience getting babies to sleep, I will be on hand to help (and I love a challenge, I am rarely defeated!) However, if your little one is particularly resistant, we have many tools of distraction at our disposal.
If you are still concerned, you are welcome to bring another adult with you (partner, grandparent, friend) and they can take over baby duties either with us or out and about. Wateringbury has some lovely walks and there are several eateries in the vicinity.
Is it only for Mums?
The spa is designed for Mum and Baby, although I have had Grandma and Baby, Aunty and Baby and even Godmother and Baby. If there’s a special woman in your life who you would like to treat and who would enjoy a beautiful bonding session with your baby, they are very welcome!
Sorry Dads, this one is only for the ladies!
